About.

Hi there, I’m Britt Kusserow, a queer singer-songwriter currently based in Los Angeles, by way of Vermont, New Zealand, Indiana, and Minnesota. My lyrics frequently explore queer, existential, and spiritual themes, and my general style has been compared to artists like The Indigo Girls, The Weepies, and Soccer Mommy. In 2024 my most streamed, searched for, and Shazamed songs were “Jericho,” “Your Year,” and "More Than Enough.”

With regard to genre, I often place myself in the “folk, singer-songwriter” category, but in a more vulnerable moment I might refer to it as “moody lesbian balladry.” My Gemini wife has referred to my music as “butch folk” and I suppose that’s a good compromise between the two worlds.

I was drawn to music at a young age, writing songs about Jesus and horses in Indiana in the early aughts. As I continued to write, I found that musical expression helped me navigate the coming out process in an un-affirming environment, and in fact helped me realize that I was queer in the first place.

My latest album, “Echoes of Creation” brings together four original, open and affirming church camp themes from recent years, along with a fresh arrangement of the traditional song “Come Thou Fount.”

This EP may have been written with campers in mind, but it was never meant to stay in the woods. These songs are for anyone looking for a faith that affirms, embraces, and liberates. If you’ve ever wondered whether there’s a place for you in the story of God - this music is here to say: there is, and always has been.

If that’s not your jam - never fear! My previous albums are much more general/folksy in scope, and although my own faith background is reflected in some themes, there’s plenty of general sapphic yearning for those less inclined toward organized… anything.

Thanks for listening.
